Trialt

Northern land, major stone producer, ruled by Skufruss after the slaying until the Epithany of Kord and Kordasa

Nestled up in the corners of the two ranges of mountains, Trialt was a cold land, breeding tough people well accustomed to fighting the orcs that were becoming more and more common in the mountains. They also had closer links with the dwarves than most other humans, trading freely with them and co-operating with them in resisting the orcs when they are invaded. Trialt exported high-grade building stone to the rest of the Northern realms. While the dwarves are the best stoneworkers that can be found, they do not export stone, or move it much; in their own building, they generally shape what’s there rather than adding on to it – and so Trialt had the market cornered.

Trialt, bolstered by their Dwarven allies from Gloiran, joined Sinval in the ill-fated attack on the new dragonrealm of Duceor in 900. Even then, the power of the forces the Dragon had brought over the mountains, plus his own not inconsiderable effect, was far too much for any human army, and the Trialtan troops stood no chance.

Since their defeat and conquest, Trialt remained the major producer of high-grade building stone in the North, though without further dwarven assistance. Varkar himself has took a considerable quantity of dressed stone up the pass to Vorsand, as it emerged, for the fortification of his mighty palace.

Trialt remained firmly under Kin control since the Dragonslaying, ably governed by Lord Skufruss. Skufruss is a relative rarity, a non-combative Kin; his passion is for information, knowledge and intelligence. A reclusive, mysterious figure, he somehow inspires few reactions other than deep respect and caution among the few who have personally met him.

He was unable, however, to cope with the enormous upwelling of religious fervour and independence caused by the creation of the Kordasa in his captial of Karennal. Forced to flee, he was replaced by a part-theocractic government comprising the High Priest of the Church of Kord Triumphant, and the Knight Commander of the paladins of Kord in the city.
