Spoiled brat mis-ruler of the Voronis system
Born to a hero and ruler, Conrad van Cleef never had to work or strive for anything, and was spoiled by his indulgent mother to the point where he regarded this as his right. When his father Gordon died in 1100, he took power in the Voronis system on the assumption that the whole star system was there for his personal benefit.
All the good work his father had done has gradually unraveled over the six years since, with vast sums spent importing off-world luxuries (and security - Conrad is at least aware of his domain's history) while the taxes and duties on the citizens continue to climb. Rebellions are flaring across the belt, to which his response is to send his mercenaries to crack down.
