The near-human inhabitants of Lyrar live in a violent, clan-based warrior society, with constant wars raging almost everywhere. With a 90% hydrographic, most of this warfare is nautical. The natives average 2.5m in height with heavy, over-muscled builds being common, and exhibit a contempt and hatred for 'aliens' in very active ways. Despite their iron/bronze-age technology, this makes Lyrar a very dangerous place to visit, and TAS has designated it a Red Zone.
The Imperium maintain a small military base on VIb, Kicgpe, from which occasional rescue missions are launched for people in trouble on the mainworld who are important enough to bother with. Other inhabited bodies in the system are connected with systems defence and not with the stroppy residents of the mainworld.
