The word Sildor is no longer spoken in Alair; the land as it was when it was so named no longer exists. In the two years between late 1414 and the fall of Lomegor in 1416, Varkar and his minions systematically razed, destroyed and polluted the length and breadth of the elven lands. Using a combination of physical force, slave labour and dark magic, they reduced the once fair and peaceful land to a grey, choking wasteland, carpeted with ash, haunted by unquiet spirits, and home to no wholesome thing. The people of the Free Kingdoms refer to it as the Desolation.Since the fall of Varkar, and the return of the Elves (see Belamir), the Desolation has been shrinking, though there is a long way to go.
