Sorcerer, unique red hair and eyes, double for Dakair Ashkari, carries Anakha-Dyvka, shapeshifter
A nomad from the Red Dust Tract, Kobort was born a member of the Relanere clan, and grew up a typical member of a Red Dust clan group. However, in his early teens, his slightly peculiar red hair and eyes, coupled with his emerging talent for spontaneous sorcery, led to his becoming distanced from his relatives.
Feeling he needed to "discover himself" - in itself a rather odd thing for a member of a traditionally isolationist culture - he left home and journeyed into the northern lands. After a period of general wandering, he signed up with the Crimson Eagles, a Tellaran mercenary band, and spent three seasons campaigning in Trialt, fighting in one of the small civil wars that occasionally flare up in the Northkingdoms. During this time he met dwarves (including, once, Hildraft Bogadun) several times, and enjoyed dealing with them.
At the end of this season, he felt his life was getting a bit predictable again, and signed off from the regiment, along with Surya and Sack. Some time later, he ran into his old acquiantance Hildraft in a Trialtan inn, and the three of them joined a band of wandering treasure-hunters who were forming for an expedition into some nearby ruins. The survivors of this first trip decided to remain together, and Kobort is still with them.
He rides a Red Dust nomad horse, and has his familiar owl Nose-Biter close to hand at all times. He keeps his Wand of Polymorph a closely-guarded secret.
Since the transition to the future, Kobort's power as a sorcerer has been increasing. The cloak of Daira Fairhands, with its' powers of climbing and web making, along with use of his Invisibility spell and (sparingly) the wand of Polymorph, have made him a dangerous foe.
Mistaken accidentally for the Red Dust maverick hero Dakhair Ashkari, Kobort may well have some problems with his native people if he tries to return home, but at the moment he is fully bound up in the quest for the Seventh Sword.
Described by the Goldeneye of Gloiran as "The Mind of Glass", Kobort has yet to discover what this may mean. Of all the party, he has given most thought to what it may mean.
His sorcerous powers have grown over the time the group has travelled; to the point that when they finally encountered Varkar Barduric, his magic was a major factor in their victory. Since the Slaying, he has been concentrating on mastering the Anakha-Dyvka - the obtaining of which had become an increasing obsession - and laying plans to make his peace with Dakhair Ashkari.
In the aftermath of the Slaying, Kobort was affected by some sort of magical trap or legacy; he has yet to discover what that has done to him.
