Doronond

High King of the Elves since mythic times, caused war with Tellare 672, survived the Elf Wars. Was one of the Wyrmslayers, & ordered the Return.

King of the Elves for at least 1,500 years, Doronond has undergone a change of personality in recent centuries. His arrogant stubbornness in disregarding humans when he decided to wipe out the "evil" race of lizard men led to the only major war between humans and elves, culminating in the battle of Thallan in 672. He led the elves all through the disasterous wars against the Dragon, and fled with them to Viridor when the last elven city fell in 1510. Reflecting on this as he went into exile, it became plain to him that his - and his people's - whole approach had been wrong. Their aloof superiority and distant arrogance had cost them allies who could have saved them all. Turning his back on his throne, he retreated to a lonely tower on the eastern coast of Viridor to ponder this. This self-imposed exile-within-an-exile was broken by the arrival of the sword Mergil - in the hands of non-elves - and the realization that the only way to save Alair from the Dragon and his effects was for all peoples to work together. Bullying his Lords into agreement, he took up the Seventh Sword of the Noldor and led the Elvenhost back to the mortal lands in an attack on the Dragonrealms. He himself accompanied the adventurers to Vorsand and participated in the Dragonslaying. Afterwards, his plans for re-founding the northern human kingdoms with the aid of Varkar's treasure conflicted with Surya's plans to create something rather different, and he led his people back into the Desolation with the objective of reclaiming it, to one day be able to call it Sildor once again. Whether he would manage to keep all his proud nobles concentrated on this goal remained to be seen.

Brought to the brink of war with Tarlanor by Garkaur Kulataur's letter to Skufruss, he nonetheless attended the peace talks in Reital in the autumn of 1601 and made an uneasy truce with Skufruss.

Since then he has guided his people along the very tricky path of recreating one of the largest and most powerful kingdoms in Alair without antagonizing the powers around it. He helped broker the peace between Tarlanor and the Kordasa in 1628, futher establishing the new elvish kingdom as a part of Known Alair.
